Member Spotlight - The Alpine Lodge

Vicki Swigart has lived in Red River since 2007. She says her earlier visits were to come see family members who owned Red River Real Estate. After her and husband Richard moved here, they purchased Red River Real Estate and held onto it until November of 2016.

After the sale in 2016, they found an RV and did some traveling. Deep down, though, they knew they wanted to own another business, so the couple started looking at options. Friends suggested they check out the Alpine Lodge, so they approached the owners. In 2017, the Alpine Lodge was theirs.

The Alpine Lodge currently employ's nine employees.

They have been members of the Chamber of Commerce since 2008, when they bought Red River Real Estate. When they purchased the Alpine Lodge, they renewed membership with the Chamber.

As for what's new at the Alpine, they continue to remodel rooms each season, and they just received new key-less door locks.

So what makes the Alpine special? “History,” Vicki says.

It was built in 1953 by Mr. Bolton, the original builder of the Red River Ski Area. The Alpine Lodge is the birthplace of the Ski Area, which served as its office for ticket sales. Additionally, the Alpine is the largest lodge property in town with around four acres right on the river. It is centrally located close to dining and the main chairlift. They also boast two indoor hot tubs 🙂
