Our History

swoosh

The Red River Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1985 to support and promote the business community of Red River and surrounding areas.

In the decades since its founding, the Chamber's board, staff, and volunteers have worked diligently to attract visitors to Red River and stimulate the local economy by hosting annual festival or sporting events.

With the onset of the pandemic in 2020, the Chamber's event-centered focus came to an  abrupt halt. Like many businesses, nonprofits, and even government agencies - the Chamber was forced to close its doors and suspend services. However, this slowdown provided an opportunity for the Board and former Director, Shelby Werley, to survey their membership and the business community and determine the best possible path forward for the Chamber. The results of the survey made it clear that the Chamber would best serve members and the community by generating more extensive member services.

The Chamber re-opened its doors in September of 2021. Since that time, membership has been re-engaged and a more robust menu of services and programming that directly serve the needs of membership has been developed.

Because of the work of the Chamber of Commerce, Red River's shoulder seasons have shortened and local businesses have been able to continue providing their excellent services to tourists and community members alike.
